Founder, Organiser & Host International Waldorf Retreat

I was born in the Netherlands, raised in South East Asia in a mixed cultural society- East and West. At an early age of 4 I started developing the love of creativity in art and needlecraft.

At the age of 12 I took pattern making classes for adults. Obviously I had assistance in the technical drawings. It was then that I was sewing children’s clothes out of Burda pattern magazines and selling the sewn clothes in local villages. I guess the sense of trading started very young.

In my boarding school days in the UK I attended sewing classes and did O-level exams where I learned the basics of fine needlework and theory. Here I learned the technical terms which has helped me in editing sewing instructions for doll making kits.

My clerical work at the General Bank of the Netherlands truly helped in commercial and communication side of my business.

In 2002 I started my doll business with a small variety of doll making materials and kits. This has throughout the years grown to a small family business run together with my husband Berend. Our major product is the DollyMo range of yarns which we for many years offered to private customers.

Nowadays we concentrate on wholesale and are happy to see how universal our brand has become.
